Chapter 10

Diana

I felt like I was on a cloud of happiness, just floating around without a care in the world and the best part was that Bruce was there with me. I could feel his touch, smell his manly perfume and knew that I was where I wanted to be. With the love of my life. It was perfect, I was happy… we were happy.

But then my eyes fluttered open, a stream of sunlight in my face reminding me that it had only been a dream. The night before came crashing back, and I realized that part wasn’t a dream. It was reality. It was now.

Bruce’s hand was still wrapped around me, I could feel his naked body pressed against mine and shit… it was morning. I’d stayed the night!

Just as everything came crashing back, I felt bile rise to my throat, and before I even had the chance to curse, I had to quickly throw Bruce’s hand off me, bolt from the bed and to the bathroom, where I spilled the contents from my stomach into the toilet bowl.

I retched and I retched, feeling like I was close to death’s door but more concerned about whether I was waking up Bruce. The last thing I wanted was for him to wake up and find me in here like this. I didn’t want the questions… I didn’t….

“Fuck!” I exclaimed as I pulled myself up and pulled one of Bruce’s robes from a rack and threw it around myself.

Just when I thought I was in the clear, his voice had me panicking. “Diana, is everything alright?”

I bit down on my lips and snapped my eyes shut, reaching to flush the bathroom. “Fine,” I said, but my voice barely carried.

“Are you sure? You don’t sound fine,” he said, and I rubbed my forehead, gripping onto the sink as I searched my thoughts.

I was just about to answer when the acidic taste rose to my mouth again, and I found myself retching over the toilet again. Tears sprung to my eyes, and the nausea doubled inside me. As much as I wanted to get up and walk out of this with a straight face, I couldn’t.

A knock came at the door, and I stiffened. “I’m coming in,” Bruce said. Before I had a chance to answer, he was already in, his eyes wide with shock as he stared down at me on his bathroom floor, looking my worst.

“Jesus Christ, Diana. Are you okay?” He asked, falling to his knees, his eyes searching my face.

I pulled in a breath, flushed again and tried to stand. Bruce was at my arm, and before I could say anything, he swept me up into his arms and carried me to the bedroom.

He sat beside me on the bed, looking confused. “Do you want me to get you anything? Coffee? Tea… anything?”

I shook my head and bit my lips, feeling like I was on the verge of tears again. Damn.

“I’m fine, I just need to take a bath and go home,” I said, managing a tight smile.
